How it works

RoleRadius checks new job postings every day and compares their responsibilities with your experience. You add your resume, set your requirements, and review the resulting matches.

Two words appear throughout

Radius
The range of jobs your experience may qualify you for. RoleRadius builds your radius from your resume and the types of work you can do, including jobs with titles you have never held.
Sweep
One pass over the job market, from pulling in new postings to reading each one against your background and ranking what it finds.

How RoleRadius searches differently

It searches more sources.
RoleRadius searches data covering over 207 million jobs from over 12 million companies and over 300,000 sources, including company hiring systems. It collects the results in one place.
It matches on the work a posting describes.
Most job-board searches start with a title or keyword. RoleRadius instead compares the responsibilities in each posting with your work history, which can identify suitable roles with unfamiliar titles.
It searches every day.
RoleRadius collects new postings, applies your limits, ranks the matches, and explains the strongest results.
Every application lives in one place.
The Tracker holds each application you send, from the day you apply to the final answer, in place of a spreadsheet you keep by hand or a separate service you pay for.

The sequence, start to finish

Steps 1 to 3

Set up once

You do these three steps one time. You can change any of them later.

  1. Add your resume.

What you do. Upload your resume as a Word document or a plain text file.
What happens. It becomes your master resume, the one record of your experience. RoleRadius uses your master resume to suggest the kinds of work you can do, grade job matches, and prepare tailored resumes. Replace it whenever your resume changes.
  2. Add the kinds of work you can do.

What you do. List the kinds of work you can do, one phrase per line, up to 20. Broad areas work better than exact job titles: patient care coordination, supply chain planning, curriculum design, fraud investigation. Adding titles you have held is fine too, and widens what you match.
What happens. Choose Suggest from my resume and your resume is read for the capabilities and areas of work it shows, then proposed to you as a list. You keep the ones that fit, reword any of them, and remove the rest. Nothing goes into your radius until you approve it. Include every type of work you would seriously consider. Your limits and match rankings narrow the results later.
  3. Set your limits.

What you do. Choose remote, hybrid, or on-site work, in any combination, and name the cities that work for you if you choose hybrid or on-site. Set the lowest annual salary you would accept, starting at $50,000. Add deal-breaker words to exclude postings containing requirements you will not consider, such as a license you do not hold.
What happens. Only the limits you set can rule a posting out, such as pay that is disclosed and falls below your minimum, a location that does not work for you, a deal-breaker word, or a posting older than your age limit. They all live in your settings and they are yours to change.
    • Everything else affects ranking only, so a weaker match ranks lower rather than disappearing.
    • Every ruled-out posting stays on record with its reason shown.
    • A deal-breaker is matched anywhere in the posting, its title and its description alike.
An everyday word therefore rules out far more than you would expect, because it also appears in the benefits and legal paragraphs near the bottom of most postings. In your settings you can check any word to see how many jobs it would rule out before you rely on it.

Steps 4 to 7

From then on, it runs for you

The searching and the first read of every posting run on their own. Your part is reviewing what comes back and acting on the roles you choose.

  1. RoleRadius searches every day.

What you do. No action is required. RoleRadius runs the search automatically.
What happens. One sweep runs each day on its own. It brings in new postings, applies your limits, and checks what remains against your own work history. Each checked job receives a match grade, from A+ down to D-, on how closely the work in the posting lines up with the work you said you can do, with the reasons written out: the strongest points of alignment, any gaps, and details in the posting worth checking, each backed by the posting's own words beside your own.
  2. Review the strong matches.

What you do. Open All Matches and work down from the top. On each posting, save it for a closer look later, or mark it as not interested.
What happens. Matches arrive in three groups:
    • Strongest Matches for your closest fits, graded in the A range
    • Moderate Matches for postings graded B or C, to check when you have time
    • Low Matches for everything else RoleRadius checked and kept on record
Every match has a Why ranked here? link showing exactly what placed it there. The grade ranks your list by how closely the posting's work matches yours, and every decision stays yours. Postings you mark as not interested do not return.
  3. Track everything you apply to.

What you do. Move a role into the Tracker when you apply, and update it as you hear back. Paste a posting's web address to add something you found elsewhere, or import a list from a spreadsheet.
What happens. Each application is tracked from the day you apply through an offer or other outcome, together with your notes, important dates, and a saved copy of the posting. That copy stays readable after the employer takes the listing down, which matters when an interview lands weeks later. Once you have some history, Insights shows how far your applications get and which are still waiting on a reply.
  4. Tailor a resume for one role, if you want to.

What you do. Choose a role and ask for a tailored draft. Read it, edit it, and approve it before you use it.
What happens. RoleRadius uses AI to prepare the draft from information already in your own resume: it re-emphasizes, reorders, and rewords what is there. An automated check then compares the finished draft with your history, line by line, and points out any line with no supporting source found. The check can miss errors, so read the whole draft and correct anything wrong before you download it as a Word document. A cover letter draft is prepared the same way.

What stays under your control

  • Nothing reaches an employer unless you send it.
  • No document is used until you have read and approved it.
  • A grade sorts your list. It never decides for you.
  • Your resume, your criteria, your matches, and your applications are visible to you alone.
  • You can change the kinds of work you can do, your minimum pay, and your deal-breakers at any time. RoleRadius applies the changes to the next daily search.
